So you’re thinking about joining FFA, and you don’t know if it’s the right fit for you. You don’t think you fit the stereotype that is meant to be in FFA. First, let's start off with what FFA stands for, it stands for Future Farmers of America. While FFA is the traditional name we had a name change in 1988 to show the diversity in agriculture that it is not only farming but a variety of different focuses. So even if you're not into farming there is more than likely something that you would find that you would enjoy.

Joining FFA was the best decision I have made in my life. Now I know what you're probably thinking “She’s an FFA officer, of course she has to say that” that's not true even if I wasn’t an officer my opinion would still be the same. There are multiple opportunities which you otherwise wouldn’t have like going to the State and National Convention and meeting people from everywhere and learning all new things. FFA also helps you get excepted into college not only does it look great on a college resume, but The National FFA Organization awarded around $2.2 million dollars in scholarships!

FFA can help prepare you for career paths, and helps you through college too! Not only do you have opportunities for scholarships and college, but you have the opportunity to travel a numerous amount of places. Depending on your chapter you will travel, whether it’s to another school or your state capital or even across the country to Indianapolis, Indiana. For some that is a 5 minute drive, but some chapters must fly in on a plane! That’s insane, that people from all over America are in this organization and participate in conventions and conferences. If your advisor and chapter president is like mine they want to encourage you to talk to new people and make friends, so if you join FFA not only will you have life friends in your chapter but, all over America!

So I’ve told you the fun aspects of FFA like making friends, traveling and opportunities, but now to the serious side that helps prepare you for life after school. If you're a shy person and don’t talk much, FFA can help you. FFA is a community so members will give you support and confidence and have Career Development Events to help you like Creed Speaking or something like Prepared public speaking. FFA can help you overcome your fear of speaking, or even if you're not afraid to speak FFA can give you something to speak about and a reason to use your voice.

FFA helps you through high school in so many ways like helping you make friends and how to manage your time. It also helps you when you need to give a presentation and you're terrified, but it can help you overcome that. Again, there are so many opportunities to travel and have fun and experience things you wouldn’t normally. FFA prepares you for life after high school and life after college as well. Thanks to FFA you can learn valuable business and job interview lessons. I hope this article has helped you in deciding if you're going to join FFA or not.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
