With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it's the perfect opportunity to spread the love to all the important women in my life. Although not everyone has experienced a loss due to Breast Cancer, almost everyone has lost an important woman in their life, and that's worthy of acknowledgment. It's extremely important, yet often overlooked, to tell the ones you care about how much you truly do value them. So, here's to all of the wonderful ladies out there:

Dear Mom,

A shoulder to lean on, a friend to vent to, an unconditional bond. Thank you for always being there for me, for loving me when I was at my worst, and convincing me to reach the best of my potential. Your selflessness and positive influence do not go unnoticed. Thank you for doubling as my mom and friend, while sharing and creating many memories with me. The saying "all that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my mother" proves to be a true statement when it comes to you, so thank you.

Dear Aunt,

Whether it's the fun aunt, the role-model aunt, the aunt who is always late to the family gatherings, or the aunt that arrives two hours early to help set up the family reunion, thank you. Thank you for being you. You play an important roll by adding character to our family and we wouldn't live up to our last name without you.

Dear Sister,

A truly unique bond. No one knows you quite like your sister, and no one wants to. Throughout the love-hate relationship that is one of a kind, something that only sisters know, we've been through a lot together this lifetime. Thanks for always being there, being someone I can relate to, and sticking by me through the hardest of times.

Dear Best Friend,

Thank you for always telling me what I need to hear, even if it isn't always what I wanted to hear. Thank you for letting me tell you the same story four times and giving me the same advice five times. The cool thing about us is that we chose each other, we aren't blood, and that in itself speaks wonders. Thanks for choosing me.

Dear Grandma,

Thank you for cooking the best home-made meals and always thinking I'm extraordinary. Thank you for following up with all my events from elementary school to college and being my biggest fan. There is no support system quite like a grandma, so a million thank you's to you.

Much love,

A daughter, a niece, a sister, a friend, a granddaughter, and most importantly, someone who is incredibly thankful for you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
