An Open Letter To The First Boy Who Treated Me Right

Thank you, nothing more, nothing less. Simply, thank you.

Hey.

I really just want to start off by saying thank you. Thank you so, so, so much for everything you did for me. Because of you, I now know what I deserve. I was absolutely floored when, on our first date, you came up to my door and introduced yourself to my mom. I can honestly say that is the first time that has ever happened to me, obviously other than high school dances. Thank you for opening my car door every single time we went out. Thank you for paying for every meal, donut, and movie ticket, even when I would reach across the whole car trying to hand the Wendy's employee my credit card rather than yours.

Even though the way we met was... Unconventional (yes, that's right, Instagram). Thank you for not just trying to get into my pants. Thank you for actually taking me out on dates. Yes, of course, I love a night in of Netflix just as much as the next girl, but going out to a fancy restaurant, exploring the city, and even pointless, long, midnight drives means so much more to me. Thank you for going to my favorite coffee shop with me, even though you don't like coffee. Thank you for playing my Spotify playlist without me even mentioning anything! Thank you for singing One Direction with me at the top of our lungs. Thank you for dealing with me in my moments I'm not proud of. Thank you for your kind words and complete chivalry. Thank you for remembering my fast food order and bringing it to me at three in the morning. Thank you for calling me beautiful and stunning instead of just "hot." Thank you for screen-shotting my snapchats because you thought I looked cute.

You are the reason I know I should not be the one blindly chasing after boys who don't care about my feelings. You are the reason I finally got over that one boy who completely took over my life in the most negative way.

And while it sucks that we ended the way we did, thank you for respecting me through it all. Thank you for not turning around to your guy friends and calling me vulgar names. Thank you for keeping our personal moments private, and ultimately, thank you for coming into my life. It's hard right now, being so young and so confused and unsure with what the future holds, but I sure do wish nothing but the best for you. While we both have amazing things coming up in our journey, I hope our paths cross again one day.

Best,

Georgia

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
