Dear Roomie,
A mere five months ago you were nothing more than a few Facebook messages and a couple silly Snapchats. But now I cannot imagine my college experience without you. All my move in day anxieties have settled, I found not only the perfect roommate, but my best friend. We may have told a few white lies on our surveys; like the fact that our sleep times are more around 3 a.m. than 10 p.m. or that we both love cleaning. But despite the minor inconsistencies, we have managed to get through a whole semester.
My days would be boring without being woken up by the hundreds of alarms you set, yet never actually wake up to, or the random food you decide to microwave at the strangest times of the day. And nights would not feel right without One Tree Hill blasting in the background as we try to study (but we both know we will have to watch to see what happens to Nathan and Halley.)
We have also had our fair share of hardships; from struggling with homesickness to a dorm infested with spiders. Being hundreds of miles away from family and familiarity is one of the hardest things I’ve faced. But knowing I am not alone in this makes the distance not seem so far. Knowing that you understand the reason behind the hundreds of phone calls home, and the Facetimes at 2 a.m. The fact that you listen to the constant stories from a place you’ve never seen, yet still smile like you remember the stories just as vividly.
I think most of all I have to thank you. Thank you for the pep talks about the cute boy in the dining hall. Thank you for the ugly Snapchats I get in the middle of class that make the 90-minute lecture feel a little less monotonous. Thank you for taking me to the doctors when I’m convinced I have every disease on WebMD. And thank you for not only being my roommate…but my best friend.
Love Always,
Your Roo-- Best Friend
