To the people who have changed my life,
I'm writing this letter to let you know how much you have influenced my life. Some of you were there when I hit rock bottom and was struggling to pull myself back up. A few of you have known me for years, some just a short period of time; regardless, you have still left your mark on my life. Your hands were the ones that lifted me and helped dust me off. Some of you are the ones that have helped me learn that it is OK to be myself and to not let anyone tell me different. We've had times where we all struggled, but helped push each other through the mess. Lately, some of you have really helped me.
It has been a rough couple of semesters, but you have each encouraged and pushed me to do my best. You did whatever you could to try and make my life brighter. Whether it involved pulling me away from my homework (kicking and screaming), showing up at my house just to talk for hours, or waiting for me to get off work late at night and wanting to do something, you guys were still there. I appreciate all of this more than you will ever know. The times we have spent together are priceless. Every time we get together, I feel free, as if weights have been lifted off my shoulders. The abundance of laughter and jokes helps wash away all bad vibes. Living in a small town can be a pain, but we always find something to do. We ride around for hours blaring music, go sit at the docks and look at the stars, or pile up in one of our living rooms to watch movies and play drinking games. I finally have started smiling more and enjoying life, and it was all because of what you have done.
I know that this probably seems sappy, but, sometimes, we need a little sappiness in our lives. I know that, sometimes, people come into your life for a reason. Those who leave aren't worth keeping, but those who have stayed are the important ones. As we grow, I hope our friendship does as well. I want to add to our collections of stupid selfies, pointless Snapchat stories, ridiculous drunken escapades, and late-night adventures. Those are the moments in life when everything seems so easy, and honestly, being young isn't always easy. This means that those are the moments that we need to cherish the most. I hope all of you read this and understand how truly grateful I am. The bonds we all have are the ones that I want to keep for as long as I can— the ones that matter most. So, to all of you, thank you so much and let's allow our friendships to grow.
Sincerely,
Your dear friend
