An Open Letter To The Newest Members Of Alpha Chi

Dear New Members,

Welcome home! After a week of waking up at 5 a.m., walking into a room filled with screaming girls, and opening up to complete strangers you have now finally found your home. Rush week is an emotional roller coster. We cry because we are happy, we cry because of disappointment, and we cry because of lack of sleep. No matter the reason for the tears, they will still come if you want them to or not.

However now that rush is over, you can finally take a step back and reflect on the crazy week you just had. There is no way to really describe rush without experiencing it for yourself.

Rush is a time where you, the missing part, find your way to complete the missing whole. You new members are what we have spent a year looking for. Each one of you make our chapter whole, without you this organization would not thrive. Thank you for showing us how special all of you are, and for letting us welcome you into our sisterhood.

I know you have a lot of unanswered questions right now about being a new member, but I promise you will have it all down in no time! Take this time to really emerge yourself with your new member class. These are the girls you will be spending the next four years with, and I promise you you won't want to waste any time.

As a junior I can tell you the next four years will fly by. My time in college is over half way over, which makes it so hard to believe I was in your shoes just two years ago. Since those two years I have found a family, forever friends, and made unforgettable memories. And its all thanks to you Alpha Chi Omega.

My hope for all of you new members is to have the same experience, if not better than mine during your time here in Alpha Chi. Like I said before your time here is short, so don't take advantage of it.

I know its exciting to wearing your letters, and please do LOUD & PROUD, and attend mixers, invite boys to formal, but this organization is way more than all of those things combined. This organization is made up of real strong women you will be there to pick you up when you fall, you will go on late night sonic runs with you, and who will be there for you when you think no one else is.

I don't have to convince you to fall in love with Alpha Chi, because you already have. Why else would I be writing you this letter?!

You have seen our sisterhood, you have heard about our philanthropy, and you have learned about what Alpha Chi has to offer. Now go out and embrace it!

We love you new members, and we know you all accomplish great things both inside and outside this chapter!

XO

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
