Dear LSU,
When I stepped onto your campus in August, all I had going for me was a good resume and a few high school friends that also decided to attend Louisiana State University. The last 5 months have been filled with the best and worst times of my life. I have gained and I have lost, but most of all, I have learned and I have grown.
August was a month of new beginnings and countless friendships. I decided to participate in sorority recruitment and after a long week of socializing and searching for my home, I joined Chi Omega. Deciding to join the largest sisterhood in the world has brought so much joy to my life. If I ever need a place to go and relax, the Chi Omega house is always open. When I am in need of a study buddy or shopping partner, there is always a Chi O up for the challenge. I never imagined that I could grow to love a group so much over just a few short months. Thank you, LSU, for giving me the opportunity to join such a unique and loving sisterhood.
September was full of Tiger football and Louisiana Saturday nights spent in Death Valley. The feeling of cheering on your team with over 100,000 fans is indescribable. I would give anything to wake up early on a Saturday morning to tailgate all day with my closest friends. Thanks to LSU, I cannot wait for the next football season.
October was similar to August and September, but I began to get more involved in Greek Wide and CRU. Through these organizations and the leadership of some influential individuals, I was able to strengthen my walk with Christ. My first semester of college would have not been bearable without a strong, Christian foundation. I would like to thank LSU for helping me to grow stronger in my faith.
In November, I was elected as a senator for the University College for Freshman Year. Joining student government was similar to joining a sorority. I was instantly given an entire new group of friends and they were all so genuine and inviting. I cannot wait to make an impact on my campus through Senate and Student Government. Thank you, LSU, for allowing the voices of students to be heard through Student Government.
December was the best and worst month of my first semester at LSU. I entered this month with more stress than I could handle, but I left LSU’s campus feeling so accomplished. Finals week seemed to get the best of me at times, but I can proudly say that I finished my first semester of college with an overall "A" GPA. All the stress and worrying during finals week didn’t help, but praying to God and seeking His will is what ultimately got me through the dreaded finals week. LSU, thank you for encouraging me to do my best while pursuing a higher education.
When I left your campus yesterday, I departed with a loving sisterhood, lifelong friends, a seat on LSU Senate, friends in Christ and too many experiences to count. Thank you, Louisiana State University, for the most stressful, exciting and fulfilling 5 months of my life.
Sincerely,
A student that once took you for granted.
