Where do I begin? I'm presenting this letter in the form of an article because it seems to be the more dignified option than crying in front of all of you at out last chapter meeting together. Bear with me; I'm trying not to become a puddle.
I want to start off by saying thank you for making me feel at home during rush week. Thank you for answering my questions, for introducing me to sisters and most of all, for becoming the most valuable part of my college experience. We've been through so much together in such a short period of time, and although we've had our ups and downs, we've grown so much together and have learned countless lessons from each other. I don't know if I can fit all of my thank-you's into one letter, but I will leave you with this as my final sentiment before we part ways.
Thank you for being my college family. Thank you for teaching me the value of friendship, of hard work and for showing me how to be comfortable with the real me.
Thank you for getting dressed up with me, for crying with me, for ordering pizza with me and for always standing by me. Thank you for bringing your different backgrounds and experiences to the chapter, for sharing your talents as well as your insecurities.
Thank you for being open to change, but being willing to speak up when something isn't right. Thank you for giving me the confidence to be a leader. Thank you for screwing up. Thank you for making mistakes. Thank you for embarrassing yourselves at times, and for picking yourselves up.
Thank you for being true friends. Thank you for your unrelenting support. Thank you for giving me the greatest big a girl could ask for as well as the greatest little.Thank you for being fearless.
Thank you for understanding that this group of girls is so much more than a campus organization. Thank you for representing our sorority through your leadership in other organizations. Thank you for juggling work, classes and sorority meetings and events. You're showing the world what it means to be strong and independent women.
I never wanted to be a sorority girl. Thank you for changing my mind. I never would have imagined I would find 50 best friends and have the opportunity to call them all sisters. I know that we all get distracted sometimes and it's easy to forget the importance of making time for one another, but as I prepare to leave some of the greatest people I've ever met behind, I'm realizing what's really important. Saying something you regret isn't important, but apologizing is. Forgetting to wear your badge at a formal business meeting isn't important, but recognizing the hundreds of years of sisterhood behind that badge is. A sister's one mistake does not define her, but her ability to live up to her values does. Thank you for showing me what these values mean to you.
Thank you for the laughs, the tears, the nacho nights, the study sessions and the Panera runs. Thank you for calling me for advice and letting me do the same. Thank you for being such awesome sisters that I exceeded the 500-word limit. Thank you for giving me a reason to always come back and visit and for refusing to end the memories here.
Love Always.
