Dear Grandbig/Gbig/Gbiggles/Beloved Matriarch,
The minute I awkwardly linked my arm with you during recruitment and stumbled to our table due to our eight inch height difference, I knew I had found my home. I feel as if the bond between Gbig and Glittle is underrated, hiding in the shadows of the bond between big and little. Considering that you are indeed the grandma of the family, and we all know how much grandmas love thank you cards, here's a thank you letter to my Grandbig.
Thank you for inviting me into your tight-knit little family.
Thank you for fully embracing the "if Big says no, ask Gbig" role in the family.
Thank you for sliding into the spot next to me on the bus to my first exchange, pulling me close, loudly whispering, "so you're going to be my grand little!" Before the list of big/little pairings had been released.
Thank you for teaching me that the only thing I should be chasing is my dreams.
Thank you for being a true grandma and forcing the family to take pictures all the time. It really provides me with perfect Insta and profile picture material.
Thank you for always being down for a trip to In-N-Out.
Thank you for spoiling me during Big/Little week with the Taylor Swift serenade from the boys of Delta Sig, making all the girls on my floor jealous.
Thank you for being so excited about adding a new member of the family that you forgot to get any solo shots of your little and glittle after Big/Little Reveal.
Thank you for showing me the ropes at fraternity parties, even if I didn't always heed your advice.
Thank you for always fixing my hair. And I mean always.
Thank you for picking me up from freshmen quad at midnight and listening to me cry in the parking lot when it felt like my world was crashing down around me.
Thank you for sharing your beloved little, allowing her to find her own beloved little. You taught her how to be an amazing big through your actions and unconditional love. You engrained the importance of inter-faternalism in me. By being such a wonderful big to your little, you gave me a wonderful big in your little. As hard as it was for you to see your little to find another person to love, you remembered that there is more than enough love to go around in the family. You have taught me how to be a better Sorority Woman, sister, and Delta Zeta. You have taught me how to be the best big and grand big possible.
Thank you, Gbiggles. Thank you for all of this, and more.
Love, Tiny
P.S. Thanks for saving me from candle wax during Big/Little reveal.
