Dear Baby Sis,

We're siblings and we won't always get along. We'll fight about what we want for dinner, who get's to eat the last ice cream sandwich and we will even fight about which TV show to watch. There's a reason that we fight so much, and there are reasons why we disagree.

First off, you have to know that nobody will ever be good enough for you. Dylan O'Brien could want to marry you and he still wouldn't make enough money. In my eyes, you will be better and could offer more than any guy could. I want you to be independent because I know it could take you far in this life. In the eyes of your big brother, you can accomplish and achieve some of the greatest treasures this world has to offer.

I know that I bug you and you get annoyed when I mock you. I'd call you Stink just to get on your nerves and I'd never let you change the channel when my show was on. But you're my baby sister and in this open letter, I'd like to share how much that means to me.

You turn 16 on Saturday and it's crazy to think how fast the time has gone by. I still remember the time we both missed school because we were "sick." I still look at you and see the little kid I used to look after and the baby sister that cut her own hair. It's hard to grasp the concept that you could possibly grow up into the amazing person you are today. You're an honor roll student, three-sport athlete and you've already accomplished so much at just 16 years old.

I'm overprotective because it doesn't matter how old you get, you will always be my baby sister. You will always be my kid sister who I watched cartoons with and I will always look after you. It doesn't matter if I'm 30 years old or 18 if I get a call from you in the middle of the night needing guidance, I'll drive wherever you are. You will never be too old for my protection and love. In your brother's eyes, I will always need to protect you. I will always be your big brother.

Being your older sibling is one of the best things I can do. Even when you're feeling lost, know that you can always turn to me for help.
