Dear my Freshman Friends,
I honestly cannot believe that freshman year is in the books. It feels like yesterday I was moving into my dorm and hanging up all my decorations and in a blink of an eye, here I am at home, looking at the piles of clothes and suitcases that was once my dorm room. The last week of school was an emotional roller coaster. Between the finals stress and all the goodbyes, my eyes were a constant waterfall. There were so many “lasts” and the hardest “last” had to be when I was with you.
It’s hard to say goodbye to the people who have made your freshman year the best it could be. I couldn’t thank you all enough for the late nights together, the early morning bagel runs, the gym workouts, and the long hours in the library. I couldn’t thank you all enough for the laughs, smiles, and memories. I couldn’t thank you all enough for always being my by side and being amazing friends. And that’s what makes this goodbye so difficult.
Saying goodbye to you was saying goodbye to all the memories, all the irreplaceable good times that now can only be re-lived through a story. Saying goodbye to you means that everything "freshman" ends. Saying goodbye to you, means hello to sophomore year, a year that will be more stressful than the first. A year that will be different in the first. A year that may distance some of us and that’s what’s scary.
Our friendships are too valuable to be replaced, and we will all be living in different places, participating in different activities, but I don’t want our friendship to be any different. I want our freshman friendships to live on and be carried past senior year. I wish I could hug you all one last time and tell you in person that because of YOU, my freshman year was beyond what I ever expected it to be.
Because of you, my college experience was a success. I have many people to thank for making this year what it was, but most importantly, you. Thank you for all you have done for me. Your acts did not go unnoticed and I appreciate all of them and all of you. You have been an unforgettable and irreplaceable friend group that I hope will become my Sophomore Friends, my Junior Friends, and my Senior Friends.
I am looking forward to our summer reunion, but I cannot wait till we are all together again back at school. As Winnie the Pooh said, “How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
I hope you all have an amazing summer! I already miss you. Much love, and I’ll see you soon.
Sincerely,
Siena
