It is that time of the semester where it probably feels like you have a million things to get done but not enough time to do them. You constantly wish that there were more hours in the day so that you would have more time to study for that test that you need to pass in order to keep your A in the class or work on that project that is worth half of your final course grade. You stay up late studying while wondering why all of your professors decided to schedule tests for the exact same week, or worse the exact same day. Whenever you finish one test you automatically begin studying for the next in order to feel confident going into to it. You wish that Thanksgiving Break could just hurry up and get here so that you can have a break from it all, even though you know that you have a ton of tests, quizzes, projects due and finals weeks when you get back. Even though you accomplish a lot during the day you always feel like you could have done more. You could have studied more for that test or put a little more time into that project instead of taking that time to watch Netflix. It all just feel overwhelming and you are just ready for the semester to be over.
Let me reassure you, you are not alone. There are plenty of people around you who feel the exact same way as you. The person sitting next to you in your biology class might have two tests back-to-back right after your class. The person sitting behind you in your statistics class might be an education major who has two lesson plans due within the next few weeks. The person who you always see studying in the dining hall might be trying to go to law school and has the LSAT coming up.
The reason I bring up these examples is to tell you that there are people out there who understand where you are coming from when you say that these next few weeks are going to insane for you. They know how it feels to feel like there is not enough time in the day to get everything done. No matter if you are a first semester freshman or in your second to last semester of senior year you are probably feeling the struggle of college right now. Do not be afraid to reach out and talk to others about stuff going on. You never know somebody could have taken the same class that you are struggling in right now and could give you some advice going into the weeks leading up to the final exam.
It is not healthy to bottle up your stress and let it overwhelm you. It is not healthy to pretend that everything is okay in front of your close friends who can tell that something obviously is not okay. It is not healthy to refuse to talk to anyone about the way you are feeling with everything leading up to finals.
If you take anything away from this article, let it be that you are not alone. There are other people who are currently going through or have gone through the same thing who can help you get through these next few weeks. Ask people what they do to cope with stress and feeling overwhelmed. They were probably have one or two suggestions that you have never thought about trying before. Also ask them how to stay organized during these next few weeks so that way everything will not feel as overwhelming and disorganized as it probably currently does. Just make sure to pray and take each week one day at a time.
You should also take away the fact that you can get through this. You have made it this far so why quit now, you are almost done. Walmart already has its Christmas stuff up so it will not be long now until it is Thanksgiving Break and then Christmas Break. All you have left is a few more weeks and you will officially be done with the semester. Just keep that in mind, a few more weeks.
