An Open Letter To My Fantastic Graduating Big

Dear Biggie,

I cannot believe you are about to leave me and go off into the great big world! It seems like just yesterday I was finding out that you were my big and that you loved Chipotle just like me! I don't know if you realize this because we have not been able to hang out as much as most bigs and littles with our schedules, but you have meant an incredible amount to me and kept me sane when some of the drama has made me question some of my choices in college.

I'm so thankful that I ran to you with my ying yang twin freshman year and going to get Chipotle for dinner, only to find out how much we had in common (rather than how different we were as, I was afraid of). That night I not only met you for the first time but I found one of my best friends in Theta. You showed me what it meant to be a sister; that no matter what was going on in life you were there for me.

Remember that one time I was struggling super hard and you dropped everything and helped me move all my crap across campus last minute after my dad called you (twice) when I was having a panic attack late at night? You came across campus and sat with me until I calmed down and wrote down some phone numbers, which you proceeded to tape to my wall. The next day you found out I was moving you gave up your prime parking spot and helped lug all my stuff to my new dorm building.

The few times we have gone off campus for sorority functions you have also given me a ride and those have been awesome memories! What am I going to do next year without your crazy driving and traditional Bojangles run that makes us just a tad bit late? Don't forget the crazy jam sessions with the windows rolled down on the highway (where I have no idea what the words are to the songs but you and your best friend do) and we just have the best time of the weekend in that car for the drive.

The beginning of your senior year you studied abroad, and when you came back you found out you had a new grandlittle! Even though I swear it's nearly impossible to get you two in the same room together, you would adore her. This last semester with you on campus has been a whirlwind of activity and I have missed seeing you around as much (what with you living in the senior village and us not having a class together), but I am so proud of all you have accomplished and I cannot wait to see what all you will do with your life!

You inspire me to push myself farther and to better myself, because you are not only my big sister, and at times have been a mom away from home, but you are one of my role models that I hope I can one day be more like.

I love you to the twin stars and back biggie!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
