She is my younger sister. I inherently have the responsibility to protect, help, and build her up to be a better person. I have been there in the seemingly never ending, awkward stages, and I have seen her grow up to be strong and kind. Recently thinking back to the nights talking about our life, and our siblings, got me thinking.
To the boy who sweeps my sister’s feet off the ground:
I am here to tell you, if you ever hurt her, I will find you. As intimidating as I try to be, you will still stick around. You will begin to notice the little things in her that make her so important and special to the world. You will notice that she too has an extreme care for her family, and be prepared because we come in numbers.
You will meet her big brothers, and trust me you should be nervous, they will try to mess with you. They see her as the little princess they always knew, but will never see the grown woman she is becoming. So, shake their hands firmly, and let them know that the respect is present for their little sister.
You will meet me and her other sister. We will be excited to meet you, unlike the brothers. We will want to know all about you, your family, favorite foods, if you are a pet person and most importantly, we will judge if you are good enough for our best friend.
She is one of those people that can make anyone’s day light up; she has that illuminating gift. You will be so lucky to have her on your down days, she knows how to make you laugh and get your mind off of things when you feel suffocated by life.
I am so happy that she has found someone that cares so much about her, like she cares for everyone else. You will understand soon that she has one of the biggest hearts there is. She is patient, kind and understanding. Her personality is so genuine, you will never have to guess if there is a hidden meaning.
I can tell you now that you will be so lucky to have her by your side. It will be pretty hard to not have her by my side anymore. Most importantly, protect her. Protect her heart, protect her from ever having to go through darkness. One last thing, keep her smile present. That smile is a factor that has helped so many lives, filled so many great moment and caused so many laughs.
