To My Better Half

You don't understand how special you are.

To My Better Half

It seems like just yesterday that we started talking. From the time we woke up until I fell asleep, texts were constantly sent back and forth. I wanted to learn everything about you. I learned that your favorite color is green, your favorite food is homemade chicken soup, your favorite movie is Animal House and so much more. I wanted to know the big stuff like how you broke your hand when you were seventeen and the mundane stuff like what your favorite Old Spice scent is. I learned the small stuff about you and some big stuff. Even after all this time, I am still discovering new and fascinating things about you.

It's different, being with someone like you. I never thought, in a million years, that I'd be with someone who supported me, pushed me, and loved me like you do. I always thought that I'd end up with the jerks, the ones who used a girl to get what they wanted or used her until someone better came along. You've been proof that not all guys are the same. Four years ago I wouldn't have believed that, four years ago I was sure that the "good guys" didn't exist. Then you came along and changed my world for the better.

In you, I have found an amazing boyfriend and my absolute best friend. We've gone on so many adventures and have shared a crazy amount of laughs. You have watched me geek out over turtles at the aquarium and I've watched you geek out over video games at PAX East. You are always so willing to do whatever I like doing just to make me happy. No matter where we are or what we are doing, I don't care as long as I have you by my side.

When I started dating you, I didn't know that I'd find someone that'd be open to watching Grey's Anatomy with me on Hulu or someone that would somehow get me into Pokémon. We've invested way too many hours into Pokemon Go but I've loved every minute of it. I've enjoyed the countless arguments we've had over which Pokémon is better (Squirtle, for the win). My favorite days are the ones that consist of lying in bed playing video games, watching Dexter, and eating pizza for dinner. I feel most comfortable with you and I am so thankful that I have someone that makes me feel that way.

Without you, I don't know where I'd be. You have brought so much light into the darkest parts of my life. I am looking forward to what the future has in store for us. You know me better than anyone else does and continuously keep me on my toes. You are just as goofy as I am and a majority of our time is spent laughing at the dumbest things. You honestly don't know how much of an impact you've made in my life not only as my best friend, but as my better half.

Love,

Your Wonderful Girlfriend

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
