To my squad,
Sometimes in life, things line up so perfectly and click so well that you can’t help but believe everything happens for a reason. They say with friendship, it doesn’t matter how much quantity you have, what matters is the quality. With you guys, I have so much of both and I could not feel luckier to have the best people ever always by my side.
Anywhere with you guys is home. I think I can speak for all of us when I say that moving away from each other was one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to do. We all fell in love with colleges that just happened to be hours apart, and up until this past fall, we did everything together and basically lived at each others’ houses. Even during high school, we’d all be busy with sports and homework and whatnot during the week, but we often found ways to spend after school hours together, even if only for a short amount of time. All of that has completely changed now.
These days we spend months on end apart and we FaceTime, text and Snapchat each other constantly. Some nights just feel like the perfect night to have my best friends here but I know we’re all at places where we feel we belong. It hurts my heart to miss you guys as much as I do. There is so much here I wish I got to experience with you guys. Though, there is one advantage to living far away from each other now.
Our reunions are so amazing. It always feels so good to finally be back with the squad. Everything seems as if it picks up exactly where we left off; we effortlessly slip back into our comfort zone and happy place. We share stories and enjoy the time with each other because we know we’re only going to have a little of it before we return to school. With finals and vacation afterwards quickly approaching, I just want to say that I’ve never been more excited for a summer in my entire life. Every other summer before this one, I had you guys with me all throughout the school year, but this summer is going to be all about getting back to seeing my best friends every day, enjoying every single second and living like we really do have to go back to school the next day.
Never take advantage of the time you spend with those you love and care about. You’ll never realize how much you appreciate their love, support and laughter until you have to live without it for a few months. You begin to appreciate the time off from school in the summer a lot more than ever before and you begin to realize who the people are that will never leave your side. I am so unbelievably lucky to have found the people I call my best friends. Throughout all the late night drives, adventures on the beach and in the woods, laughs in our jammies at sleepovers and too many inside jokes to even count, you guys have been my rocks and the best, most thoughtful, incredible friends I could’ve ever imagined having. Thank you so much for loving a weirdo like me. Summer cannot get here quick enough.
All of my love,
Your best friend
