First of all, let me guarantee that you are not alone. Second, let me reassure you that it is 100 percent okay to feel like you are just floating around in this universe with a sense of being. You feel left out. You feel like you have not done enough in your life and you are just sitting in your room watching Netflix wishing that you were out with people at a party, with a club doing something for the greater good or any other multitude of activities.
Many people graduate high school with a group of friends that felt safe and promised each other that you would never grow apart. This was your tribe, your life lines. Unfortunately, many of these students end up struggling to find some person to "replace" these members of your life, the ones that have suddenly disappeared into the abyss of adulthood.
Let me emphasize on the key phrase of "you are not alone." I feel that way all the time, and so do others. Maybe you are like me. Your first few days of college you never went out and partied or tried to make new friends and now you are in a mundane, endless cycle of being boring. You are currently grasping at straws trying to start a social life that never existed.
I understand that sometimes you try to join that "something" (e.g. Greek life, a club, etc., etc.). It just never seems to go your way.
You could go hog-wild to find a tribe that you are missing (although it can go several different ways). Or maybe, you still stay on the sidelines. It is your choice. You could even merge both of the opposite. Whatever works.
However, until that special and unique tribe finds you, keep moving forward. Eat your soup with a fork and drink your coffee through a straw. Be unique, be kind to yourself. It may not be now, but somewhere in the future, you'll find your place in the universe.
Until then, stay wild. Stay you.
