Once upon a time, far, far away in a land known as the 21st century, there lived millions of young women searching for their Prince Charming. Now, let me warn you, if you are looking for a fairy tale with a happy ending, you might as well close out this tab right now.
In the 21st century land the good guys finish last and the bad guys get all the attention they don’t deserve, but desire. It’s hard to tell what we, as women, really want when searching for this so-called “Prince Charming.” Do we want a guy who would go out of his way to find that missing shoe we lost at a party? Or do we want the guy who wears a black leather jacket to our first date and tells us he will call the next day, but waits two weeks to send a text that says, "come over"? Unfortunately in today’s society, leather is the new chivalry. Leather is what makes us tick. Leather is what makes us heartbroken and confused.
It is strange to see how women have a hard time choosing between men who treat them like a princess, but gives them too much attention and men that like to play games, but do not give them enough attention. When a guy doesn’t text us back, we go crazy. But when he double texts, we get annoyed and turned off. As any mother would ask, why would you reject a guy who would give up anything to make you happy? The answer should be quite obvious.
There is no answer. Women LOVE the chase. We like it when men keep things interesting and screw with our minds. It’s what keeps us going. Do we really like when we hang out with a guy and then have to wait days for him to text? No, but it makes us want them more. Do we like seeing a guy we are talking to flirt with other girls at parties? No, but when they text us “hey” the next day, we smile and don’t hesitate to answer back. Do we like it when they send us mixed signals and make us all confused? No, but when we ask them what we are and they say something sweet back, we fall for it EVERY SINGLE TIME.
We dream of fairy tale-like relationships, but crave the hard-to-get bad boys. Every time we watch "The Notebook," the first thing we say after wiping away our tears is, “Wow where can I get a Noah?” or “Ugh I want a relationship just like Ali and Noah.” Well hate to break it to ya girls, but Noah is a good guy and never wore a leather jacket.
So again, the question arises, why do good guys always finish last? I don’t think they do. They finish first in the end. We, women, eventually come to our senses and recognize that the thrill is only fun at the beginning. After we have our hearts broken and the core for our being shaken, we recognize that Prince Charming is the one for us in the long run. But we need to search for the leather jacket first to appreciate it.
Remember ladies, your Prince Charming is out there somewhere holding your one shoe. Don’t let a leather jacket fool you of what’s really important.
