It's Okay To Not Be Okay

This one is cheesy.

Let's get something straight — It is okay not to be okay. Life isn't always easy- most of the time it's very difficult. The world is not always kind, or fair and a lot of the time —it doesn't seem like anything is going to work out correctly. The events in our life, both good and bad, we learn from. Take it one step at a time, and comprehend that sometimes things are not okay.

It is okay that everything is not okay.

It's normal.

Life is going to be like this. (It's like this for everyone.)

I know that your heart hurts. I know nothing seems together. I know that you can't sleep. I know that it's hard. This is okay. (Actually, it's science.)

1. Understand that you are not broken.

You are not weak for feeling this way, or being honest in how you feel. Express yourself- use words. They matter. Expressing yourself is key in not only moving on, but processing. It's normal in society to hide these emotions or feelings, or pretend that you are okay. Break this habit.

2. Know that you are not alone.

I know when it is late at night or you walk around your apartment it is easy to feel like you are; but you aren't. You are surrounded by support and love; look around and take advantage of it. I know it can be overwhelming- like you have never experienced pain like this, but take assurance in the fact that everyone has their own struggles. Keep in mind that some of the most successful and happy people in the world have experienced hardship and considered it hard to continue.

3. Comprehend your own power.

Know your inner strength. I know this is in every "feel good" article ever; but there's a reason for that. It's seriously great advice. You are strong enough to make it through this; and you are strong enough to continue on with your life (In fact- you already have.) You're so much stronger than you give yourself credit for- just believe me. I've seen it.

4. Remember one of my favorite sayings:

(Even though I'm not religious);

"How cool is it that the same god, who created mountains, and oceans, and galaxies, looked at you and thought the world needed one of you too?"

5. Know that I love you.

Not only because you're my best friend and my partner in crime, but because you're human. You're not always okay, and not always doing well. Sometimes your life is a mess, and sometimes you forget that you're not all on your own. But I love you for it. I love you because you're brilliant.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
