The past semester has been quite a series of unfortunate events for my roommate and me. Originally, this article was going to address the unfortunate events of the past weeks that seem to define just how unlucky we both are. But, as I was brainstorming, I started thinking. Going through all of these silly, unbelievably unlucky situations may have been unfortunate, but how fortunate am I to have a roommate like you to experience it with? So, here is an ode to my amazing roommate, who is truly one of a kind.
I've always believed that you were a little bit crazy, but it wasn't until I lived with you that I realized that I had underestimated you. You are not a little crazy, you are a lot of crazy. The good kind of crazy. The crazy that makes up an amazing, passionate, unforgettable hilarious friend. The kind of friend that will be by your side whenever you need her, as long as she's not stranded in The Fort looking for her car. The kind of friend who will always put a smile on your face and remind you that "Everything is fine. Everything is fine" even if she's about to have a mental breakdown herself.
I wouldn't trade our semester in close quarters for anything in the world; no matter how often it looked like a tornado hit our room, our air conditioning stopped working, or that we had to drive to our friends apartments because we were the only ones still stuck in the sorority house. All of that is easily outweighed by the memories that we made tailgating on game day, spray painting our bodies for social functions, and having someone to tell me that it's not really that bad if I don't go to class today.
There's a lot of stuff I'm going to miss about living with when you leave. I'll miss wondering if you're even breathing when you're napping after an all nighter, and having someone around whose luck is just as bad as mine, if not worse. I'll even miss you breaking into coordinated dance moves when I start playing my pre-game playlist, even though I always give you a hard time about it.
Thank you for making me laugh so hard that my face hurts, for always trash-talking the guys that break my heart with me, and for putting up with me for an entire semester.
Lots of Love,
Your Roomie
