15 Things To Do Before 2018

If you can make a grocery list you can make a holiday list!

Surely everyone likes something about the last few months of the year, but having ideas for things to do can make the holidays even better. Here are a few things I hope to accomplish in October through December.

1. Visit a haunted house

Everyone talks about going to a haunted house, but it's time to actually go this year!

2. Go to an actual pumpkin patch and not just Wal-Mart

Let's face it, it's so much easier to drive a few minutes to the nearest grocery story and pick up a pumpkin, but it would be so much better to go to an actual pumpkin patch. Also, you would possibly be supporting your local businesses who are selling pumpkins this season.

3. Watch a Halloween movie

It doesn't have to be a scary movie, there are plenty of corny Halloween movies we have watched since we were kids.

4. Do something fun on Halloween day

There are lots of things to do such as, having a costume party, cooking something sweet, bonfires, telling ghosts stories, and much more!

5. Wear a costume

Go all out this year! Even if you're only handing out candy.

6. Write down something you're thankful for every day until Thanksgiving

Grab some sticky notes and a pen and write what you're thankful for in your life.

7. Cook something for Thanksgiving

Or at least try to...

8. Visit as many family members you can throughout the month

Family and friends are what make the holidays so special.

9. Go Christmas shopping instead of waiting last minute

November is the calm before the storm, except for Black Friday, but try not to wait until then if you want to avoid the crowds.

10. Decorate for Christmas

November is a great time to start decorating!

11. Wrap Christmas presents

Don't let anyone see their presents because you waited last minute to wrap them, save the surprise.

12. Pass all you finals

Some people kissed their GPA goodbye in October, but in December it's the last month of the year so try your best to ace the test.

13. Sing every Christmas song you can

Christmas songs are what make December so magical.

14. Go ice skating

Try not to hurt yourself.

15. Buy (and make) hot chocolate

Hot chocolate is a vital part of the holidays. I'm not sure why Santa doesn't request cookies and hot chocolate instead of cookies and milk to be honest.

These next few months will probably go by quickly so I plan to make the best of it. I love this time of the year and I can’t wait to check off everything on my list.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
