I recently adventured to the great country of Texas to pay my dear friend a visit. She is my very best friend and she has been working at a camp all summer. We also attend different colleges so any time we have to hang out is sacred. The last time I saw her was Christmas so you can imagine how stoked we both were to be reunited after seven months apart even if it was only for 24 hours.
Somehow, some way, we were required to catch up on the past seven months in a mere 24 hours and by a stroke of God, we pulled it off. The fact that we had so little time pressed on my heart and my brain as I drove into camp, but as soon as my best friend and I were chatting and giggling all skeptical thoughts left my head. You see, it does not matter how much time you have as long as you make the most of the time you are allotted.
We spend too much time worrying about tomorrow, about school, paying the bills, about planning the next thing, and just plain worry about life that we forget to live. Now is the most valuable time we have, friends. If we are too busy dwelling on the past or building up anxiety about our futures, then what happens to the now? Perhaps we could all benefit from Tim McGraw’s lyrical genius and we should live like we were dying or maybe we should just treat every day like we only have 24 hours with our most dear friend. Do whatever it takes to prohibit the beautiful now from slipping away.
