Not Enough Is Not An Option

To live would be an awfully big adventure.

Enough means sufficient for the purpose or to satisfy desire.

This word have becoming more and more prevalent in my life in recent years. Whether it be from motivational books telling me that I am enough, or people in my romance novels thinking they will never be enough for their beloved. I have seen, heard, spoken and written this word thousands of times since I became an adult. Today, I got the chance to spend some time reflecting on this concept, and while this may not be groundbreaking — I am going to drop some truth on y'all.

You, as a human being are absolutely, metaphorically and literally enough.

I know. Riveting, isn't it? I am telling you that should be insanely obvious and yet for some reason, has become a foreign idea, like parallel geometry. At some point on the crazy journey of life, we lost the ability to truly see ourselves and are stuck in the mire of self-doubt, insecurity, and spite.

What if it didn't have to be that way?

What if we could rewire our brains to believe that we meant something? What if instead of listening to all of the no's and the never's, we could have hope? What if we stood up for ourselves as much as we stand up for others? I know I would want that more than anything, but before now, I never really figured out how to articulate it. This is the most sense I can make of it at this moment in my life. Ready? Here we go.

We live in a vast universe of anomalies far greater than our own. There are infinite numbers of these universes of which we have no knowledge. We do not know if there is other intelligent life out there, and maybe will never know. Now, let's scale down to our little corner of the universe.

Here in the Milky Way, we are just one planet spinning around a massive star we call the Sun. We are not the largest of these planets or by any means the coolest (looking at you, Saturn). We do have a distinct difference from the rest of these orbs. We have life. From the germs to the birds to the babies being born this very day, life is constantly surrounding us.

In all of that majestic and mind-boggling chaos, something even more extraordinary happened one day. Somehow, the universe conspired and aligned to make room for you to be born. If that does not blow your mind — I don't know what would.

Think about it. You have in your veins the same materials as the stars and that is an actual scientific fact. You have been placed in a universe that is withstanding and will continue to thrive until the sun explodes and kills everything. The cosmos deemed you sufficient for the purpose of carrying on human existence. That alone should prove you are enough.

So, don't let the snide comments of people who don't matter effect you. Uproot the seeds of self-loathing from your mind. You have always been enough. If the universe realized it, one day you will too.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
