A Non-Cliche List of New Year's Resolutions To Take Part In

It's almost that time of year again, you know, the time where everyone acts like they are going to completely become a new person all because of a new year. Chances are, most people won't change that much but that is only because almost every single resolution people make is way too vague and scary-sounding so people just eventually give up. It can be way more daunting to think "I'm going to quit smoking cold turkey!" instead of "this year I will lessen down on all things that are bad for me, including smoking." Hearing those big, scary resolutions can frighten some people which is, in my opinion, the main reason nobody follows through with their resolutions. Here is my list of suggestions for some resolutions that are a bit less stressful, and way easier to achieve. Hey, maybe we should make "making my resolutions less horrible" a resolution!

1. Donate your time

2. Be more open-minded

3. Stop pre-judging

4. Drink more water

5. Cut back on social media

6. Laugh more

7. Understand that essentially, a new year won't change anything unless you change

8. Be a better friend

9. Travel

10. Eat like you love your body

11. Relax more

12. Put yourself first every now and then

13. Do one thing a day that scares you

14. Get a job that you enjoy

15. Wear bright colors

16. Let go of things that are stressing you out

17. Start on a new journey

18. Go vegan, non-GMO, or Gluten Free

19. Donate your old clothes once a month

20. Join a club or a team

21. Drive the speed limit

22. Read a good book, or two

23. Wear super comfortable pajamas

24. Begin to love yourself

25. Love your neighbor

26. Take a few breaths each day when you wake up

27. Be thankful

28. Go back to church

29. Pray on big decisions

30. Try a new cupcake flavor

31. Eat new foods

32. Try a new wine

33. Cry because it's good for you

34. Watch funny movies

35. Go back to college

36. Take up a hobby

37. Explore your hometown

38. Dance around your house when you get ready in the morning

39. Smile at 10 strangers a day

40. Let 2016 go, the good, the bad, and the ugly...just let it go.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
