No Budget For Spring Break, No Problem

Why I won't be on South Beach for the break and that's OK.

Hello, fellow spring breakers!

While you all are enjoying beaches, cruises, and catching flights to your interesting destinations this year, I will be at home. Why, you ask? Well, unfortunately, I am not the best at planning for trips like these.

The life of a typical college student is ever-eventful. In the midst of actually finding out when spring break is, and trying to make plans with friends, things become mystified.

I consider myself to be a “workaholic,” meaning that every chance I get to make money, I take it. My past spring breaks have simply been uneventful. I took a leave of absence from my job back home, and because I’m technically still in their system, I get the opportunity to come back home and work.

So that’s what I did for every break.

However, I am determined to make this spring break different. I started attentively searching websites like Groupon.com just to get an idea of where I might want to vacation. Unfortunately, time is not of the essence.

Between juggling classes, extracurriculars, social life, mandatory events and my own private projects, time easily escapes me. I know I’m not the only one who experiences this, either. Then comes the savings. Obviously, you have to make money in order to save it, and when that last minute call to your parents doesn’t work, your options are even more limited.

Who says vacationing from the comfort of my old bed at home is wrong?

After all, it is my break right? Just because everyone else might be going away, doesn’t mean that I have to feel bad for staying in. The way I see it, every stolen moment that I am away from my University is a break!

Don’t let the pressure of your peers get the best of you. Spend your break doing what relaxes you. For me, that just happens to be sleeping for several hours at a time, and taste-testing all the food in my fridge when I am awake for free. Looks like this year won’t be much different.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
