Breathe in the uncertainty and carry on.

9 Lessons That Will Rock Your Life

For those who struggle hard around (mid)terms and (mid)works, life may seem like a snowfall, yet there is always beauty within the crystal.

Now is the time when sleep becomes a luxury and caffeine becomes indispensable, and it might turn out to be the college symptom. I am fortunate enough to have plenty of sleep which hugely reduces my stress. While everything works well, I must confess that many things do not fall into my plan. But that's okay! I am glad to see how everything works out!

Now I am going to share what has worked out and has not worked out for me.

1. Early Morning Exercise.

I literally thought I would wake up at 6 a.m. and exercise every morning. Though I managed to stick with this schedule during the first month, early morning gradually became an illusion that I could only dream about.

2. Detailed Daily Schedule.

You might have a detailed shorthand that keeps track of everything. However, it is important to know that losing track is fine and you can eventually catch up.

3. Knowing When To Ask.

It can be hard to navigate college, and it is always helpful to have someone to talk about your struggle. While you do not want to overwhelm others with a lot of questions, you should not hesitate to ask when you are terribly confused.

For course related questions, it is also helpful to think about why the questions are asked/why the problems are assigned. There is always a reason and you just have to figure it out.

4. Meet People

You are living with all the amazing people in their formative age. Reach out, listen to their stories, invest more, form study groups and ask questions (everyone has the desire to be important!) You will be humbled by all the awesome people out there. Form study groups and ask questions.

5. Best things are random.

It's hard to resist the temptation to plan everything, but some of the best moments just happen when you stop caring so much about what you should do.

6. Time Is Relative.

How should I spend this hour? Should I focus on my work, take a nap, or hang out with friends? You may crave for the mastery of time management, but time is actually more flexible than we thought. With some pressure and ultimate focus, you can achieve more. :)

7. Screwed Up (Or Not)?

You might have encountered a certain moment that was so embarrassing, so terrible, but that would never be the end of the world. Everyone screws up sometimes. Just keep breathing, and you will be fine.

8. Escape The College Bubble.

It is so easy to live in the college bubble, but you will never realize the beauty of the world until you hop on the train and explore the city and beyond. I was away from campus (and work) every two weeks--start to plan your trip!

9. Go With Your Instinct

Do not limit yourself from something crazy. Take in what happens and appreciate the wonders. You cannot do it wrong.

To many more adventures out there:)

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
