Google's latest and greatest smartphones: the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P. Anyone who knows Google knows that the company partners with different manufacturers each year to produce its smartphone(s). This go round, Google partnered with two different companies, Huawei and LG. Huawei created the Nexus 6P and LG, the Nexus 5X. From the start, both phones were extremely popular and known for their impressive specs, as are most Google Nexus phones. However, the reviews for each differed greatly. Reviews for the Huawei-made Nexus 6P marked the phone's impressive design, build quality, performance, and camera. However, the Nexus 5X got slightly less positive reviews for some reason. I'll let you decide for yourself.
Here's a general overview of the phone itself. Let me tell you a little bit about this phone's internals, or what makes this phone great specification wise. Inside, the LG phone has:
Six Core Processor Made By Qualcomm
This processor is great for every day users who just want a phone that does what most other people would need it to. One that gets you from point A to point B without any annoying slow downs during daily tasks.
5.2" FHD (1920x1080) Display
The screen on the phone itself is plenty bright and clear for every day users, and unless you compare it side by side to a phone with a better resolution, like perhaps its older sibling the Nexus 6P, most will not notice any screen quality difference.
A couple things to note in this image: The top facing speaker cutout is actually a microphone. And the bottom bar is a speaker. Hidden in this bottom cutout is actually an multicolor LED notification light. This will show a different color based on notifications you have from different applications.
12.3 MP Back-facing Camera
Google has made this camera absolutely stunning. Without going into too many technical details, during the announcement of the phone, the speaker introducing the phone mentioned how most people spend most of their time indoors and how because of this, we need to have a camera that can take pictures well in the places that we are most of our lives. This camera is perfect for any picture taker, or video recorder. You will be more than satisfied.
5 MP Front-facing Camera
Google has also improved upon the front facing camera as well. Now when taking a selfie, front-facing picture, video chatting or conferencing pictures and videos will be very clear and sharp.
Android Marshmallow
As always one of the major benefits of a Nexus smartphone is the fact that each one is shipped with the latest version of pure unedited Android. This makes for a clean, smooth and virtually bug free experience.
Fingerprint Scanner (on the back of the phone)
Since the dawn of the iPhone 5S, fingerprint sensors have allowed users to unlock their phones seamlessly. The Nexus 5X is no stranger to this, however LG decided to defy convention and place their fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone. The fingerprint scanner is notably fast and responsive when recognizing your fingerprints. This allows for a very quick and easy access.

Something to note about the image: The phone comes in three colors: Carbon, Ice, and Quartz (Google Store)
Battery Life:
With a 2700 mAh battery capacity, the Nexus 5X got mixed reviews early on before several updates, because some thought the phone had less than satisfactory battery life. However, after a few updates, the battery life has improved greatly. My Nexus 5X gets me through a full day and a half maximum with mixed usage. So the battery issue is no longer an issue.
So yes, the Nexus 5X is as google calls it, "an all around performer." And my biggest issue with the majority of reviews of this phone is that these reviews were made early and never updated later. Why would they need to be updated? Well, here's why. When a new Nexus phone comes out, it's very often that there are software glitches as they all come with the newest version of Android. However, after a few months, software updates roll out which fix virtually all of these issues. And after this, the updates should change as well. As an owner of the Nexus 5X, it is a great performer, has a great set of cameras, a speedy fingerprint sensor, and great battery life. It is one of the most simplistic phones you'll find in the Android world, and I highly recommend it.
