Never Stop Fighting

Trump is our president now, but that does not mean that anyone should stop fighting for equality and diversity.

I first off would like to congratulate President Donald J Trump. We have democracy for a reason and he will be our president, that must be respected by all. Everyone including myself should respect him as our president, but you do not have to like or agree with him. I respect him, but he will never be my president. I have never nor will I ever stand behind a man who says the things that he does.

He has spread such hatred and bigotry in this country it brings me to tears to think a man like him could be elected president. We are taught our whole lives as children that the bullies never win, well guess what, a bully just won. He ran his campaign based on hatred towards marginalized groups in America. This hatred spread to some of his supporters and has led to even further marginalization of these groups. We are not just contributing to the “liberal freak out” as some are calling it. Some of us in the marginalized communities are actually scared for our lives and worried for what the future has to hold. To some it may sound idiotic that we are "freaking out" but if you actually took a listen to some of what Trump has said we all have reason to be scared.

This is a man that has made fun of a disabled person, called women pigs, says immigrants are rapists and has a Vice President that still thinks LGBT+ individuals can be "cured" in therapy. It is utterly disgusting to think that this man is our president. I am going into Donald Trump’s Presidency with an open mind, but am going stand up for what is right.

But what I would like to say is this, "Never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it." -Hillary Clinton.

I could not say it any better than she did in her concession speech, we cannot give up. Everyone that is a part of the LGBT+, African American, Latino, Muslim, disabled communities or any other communities that feel they do not have a place in Donald Trump's America, we must all stand together as one. If we just sit back and do not take action progress will slip away. As a member of the LGBT+ community, I will not sit back and let all the progress that we have made slip away, I will fight for love and for equality in this great nation.

Love Trumps Hate and we always have to remember that. We will hold Donald to his promise that he made in his victory speech, that he will create an America for EVERYONE. I stand with all the communities that feel cast aside on this somber day. Do not give up hope, we will all make it through as long as we stand together as one. Make sure to make your voice heard, stand up for what you believe is right, that is the only way we will continue to add to the great progress we have made to make this country a more diverse and equal place.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
