I read a quote a while back that left me with a heavy heart and an uneasy feeling in my stomach. It said:
"Never leave someone without telling them you love them."
All of my childhood, my parents constantly told me they loved me, whether it was because we were hanging up the phone, leaving the house, or simply just reminding each other. I realized as I got older that not everyone does this.
There are families that never say I love you to one another, or even show affection in the slightest way. But why? Yes, you don’t get to pick your family, and it’s automatically assumed that you love them, but is love really there if you don’t let a person know? I’m not saying you have to constantly say I love you throughout the day, but a simple “get to work safe” or “how was your day?” is truly enough to remind someone of your love and admiration.
I think love is the truest, rawest, most genuine emotion a human can give and receive. It can be simple or complex; it can be sensual or mental but above all, it's meant to be shared. When situations become difficult, and things fall apart, love tends to mend broken souls and put together the broken pieces of life.
It pains me to see so many mourning over the loss of their loved ones, and my thoughts and positive energy go out to all of the families and friends going through hard times. So, I wanted to remind everyone to tell the ones you love how much they mean to you, and never leave without saying “I love you," because you’re not always guaranteed a chance to say goodbye.
