Never burn a bridge that you have to cross later in life because you never know when you may need to go back and cross it again. We live in a world where you may have to step on some people toes to get to the top. But you have to remember that the same people you met going up may be the same people you see going down. As adults, we should be able to communicate how we perceive things without stabbing someone in the back in the process. But for Kid Cudi, I guess these rules didn't apply to him.
This past Wednesday when he went on a Twitter rant about how Kayne West-Kardashian and Drake had 30 ghost writers and how some people in the music industry had it out for him. I don't believe that he could stop someone who has been on the Billboard 100 for the last couple of years and still manages to stay relevant even without the music being played on the radio. To say that Cudi has been loyal to the one person who gave him a start in the music business seems like a distance memory. But just a couple of months ago Cudi talked about him getting the chance to be part of Kayne's The Life of Pablo album and that whatever issue that they had was water under the bridge. So when he had "Twitter fingers" on Wednesday, everyone was perplexed. Could the issue stem from Cudi decision to leave West's G.O.O.D. Music roster in 2013 because he felt that he needed to go in another musical creative direction? On the other hand, could this all be a publicity stunt to attract attention because Cudi who last album was released in 2015, which was an epic fail and also labeled as the worse album of his music career? This puts me in the mind of someone walking into their job and saying that they hate the company, but that they're still friends.
But anyone who knows Kanye West knows he doesn't sit quietly. On his recent stop in Tampa, Florida, many concert goers recorded West basically saying that he birthed Cudi and that he should show him some respect. Drake, on the other hand, basically said, on his tour stop in Oakland, California, that Cudi needed to "cut it' and get off his high horse. So is it Kanye's responsibility to make sure that Cudi, who walked away from his music label, remains relevant? Cudi, you have to pay your dues in the game before making demands. Just because you write a verse or a hook for a song doesn't give you the right to air your "family" under the bus. Needless to say your musical dreams are now over.
