Now I know a lot of college students live in dorms, or apartments, and not houses. I get that. But even if you don't live in a house, this still pertains to you. Your upstairs neighbors, your next door neighbors, etc. I hope you become friends with them. Why?
Because it will become a huge part of your college experience and the memories you make/share. I live in a house with two of my best friends and teammates. Across the street from us is a house full of football guys. One day we yelled something out the window at them, and since then we've been best friends, or even family.
The thing is, when you become friends with your neighbors in college, you'll find yourself running to Walmart with them at 2 a.m. for cookie dough, or having game nights once a week.
You'll find yourself running across the street for a can opener and walking right inside like you live there. You'll find yourself working on homework in your living room when one of them comes over to share a funny story with you. You'll find yourself calling them when a gecko ends up in your sink, or a bird ends up in the house and in return, you'll find yourself making them dinner.
Without ever saying so, you will become like brothers and sisters. You'll make fun of each other, irritate each other, look out for each other, and confide in each other. You'll drag each other onto random, spontaneous adventures when you get bored, or you'll get together groups of people to play basketball and kickball with. You'll try to pull an all-nighter which consists of delirious laughter and you'll end up crashing at 4 a.m. You'll support them in their sport or hobbies cause they do the same for you.
Basically - if you don't become best friends with your neighbors in college, you'll be missing out. Thanks 811 for all the laughter, mess ups, game nights and memories. Wouldn't trade them for the world.
