The superstar rule in most sports fans definition is that the superstar for example like Lebron James, and Stephan Curry can basically do anything on the court without getting called for the potential of a foul on them and increasing the chance of everyone around them getting a foul who touches them. Some people think that the idea of favoritism in the NBA is not a thing and that they just know how to play the game better than everyone else. Now do not get me wrong, both of those players are great players but when a player is at the line and can set a record, I think it is time to consider the idea of a superstar rule.
This rule was even more confirmed this week in the Eastern and Western Conference finals where two players committed almost the same foul and one was suspended while the other was just fined $25,000. In the Eastern finals, guard Dahntay Jones who hit a player in between the legs while both going for a lose ball was suspended for a game. Then you move to Draymond - one instant he was going up with the ball foul and kind of threw his leg up to hit the player in between his legs. When reviewing the play he was given a flagrant 1 and no suspension. This is not the first time Draymond has hit a player in between the legs, for he also did it during game 2 on a drive and no action was taken.
I am not saying that either of them should of been suspended, I think both of these plays were basketball plays. However, I do not agree with suspending one player and the other one simply gets a fine. I think this just shows that big named stars get special treatment, not just by the refs but by the whole organization. If the Draymond situation would of occurred by a different play the result would have been suspension for a game no questions about it. But because Draymond is a star and one of the best players among the Warriors and the voice of the team, meaning he gets a small fine of his actions.
Not only is the NBA showing the superstar rule but they are also giving the okay for players to flop or sell the call even more. Flopping is something that should not even be in the mouth of a basketball player. If you are driving to the basket you should have to drive hard and be prepared to have big bodies in your way. If they hit you take it and keep going to the basket, do not just fall to the ground so you can go to the line and earn those points.
I am a huge basketball fan and it saddens me how much the NBA is turning into a joke and even sometimes in college basketball you see these issues. I think this was the opportunity for the NBA to show that they are not a legitimate organization who is not just out for viewers money, but they just proved all of that to be true.
