Naps Are The Best

Bored and unsure of what to do? Go take a nap

Naps Are The Best
Kaitlin Vachon

In college, you realize the thing to do to survive any day is to take a nap, whether you have one class that day and you didn't get much sleep that night or your day is fully loaded.

I have even gone back to where I live to take a nap between classes I had enough time. *would not suggest this if you have back to back classes though*

Maybe, you have a friend that will be nice enough to let you take a nap at their place if they live close to where you need to be or you live off campus. It is just nice to be able to lie down for even 20 minutes and take a quick nap or even a few hours. A nap is a nap no matter what time of the day it is, they're always great.

The best kind of naps is on those cold, wet, maybe even overcast days.

The mood and feel of needing a nap just hit everyone the hardest because there is no sunshine to be kissed by or heat to warm you up.

Therefore you just go snuggle yourself up under a bunch of covers, maybe even with a pet and sleep. You could even go grab some food then take a nap on these days because the mood is set even more and your body is ready for that nap.

Then, once you get thinking about that nap you're going to take later, you start becoming more tired until it is time to take it.

I hear all the time from parents "aren't you too old to nap?"

No, I am not, I need it to get through the day properly without dying of sleep deprivation.

Then their followup question usually is "well don't you drink pounds of coffee every day?" I may drink coffee, but I still want to nap.

Having a sister in high school, I see her probably nap more than I do. I don't take one every single day, but she does the second she gets home.

Again, my parents always tell her that she is too old to nap. Well, what age is too old then? Don't most old people take naps? This crisis in declaring who is too old needs to stop. Everyone needs to take a nap, right now.

Another thing, when you're in college and most people are getting anywhere from 2 to 6 hours of sleep a night because of studying, the body needs to sleep.

It needs to heal itself so the student doesn't get sick. Though if they were to get sick, they would most likely miss class, and by missing class, they are probably taking a nap.

Therefore, in hindsight, everyone should take a nap. Are you, adults, who tell us that we are too old, did you take naps when you had us? Did you ever feel so exhausted from watching your kids that you slept when we did, probably?

You know why? Because naps are wonderful and everyone should take when whenever they can. Now, after reading this article about a nap, maybe you need to go take one unless you just woke up.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
