Everyone has people in his or her life whom they admire. My "person" is a model and a fashion blogger. Her name is Nadia Aboulhosn.
Some may question why I admire a model. Well here is why...
She is confident.
Confidence was something that, for a long time, I lacked. I didn't love what I saw in the mirror everyday, and to someone in high school, this can be detrimental. When I first started following Nadia Aboulhosn on Facebook, I noticed how she was "curvy" and she had big thighs, something I possessed also, but despised. She didn't, however, and her thighs became a staple in her look and how she has shaped not only plus-size fashion, but other sizes as well. What I have come to realize is that, what you see in the mirror,is a shell, holding what is truly valuable in the inside.
She knows what's important.
Yes, she is a model. Therefore, her looks, clothing, and appearance, they all matter. However, she knows that without a good internal sense of self, there can be no good manifestation on the external self. She is involved with helping refugees in the Middle East and she realizes that everyone is called for a purpose. My body image issues were resolved by coming to an extremely hard conclusion: there is more to me than what everyone sees. I have more to offer than just my body, and looks alone can only get you so far. They will fade and what will be left is your soul and how you are, not how you look.
She has perfect eyebrows.
Even though looks are not everything, you should love your body and how it looks. You should also take care of it, because it is yours and only yours for a lifetime. One thing that I love about my appearance are my eyebrows. Yes, it sounds pretty dumb, but I love my eyebrows. They are a lot of up keep and they require some pain every two weeks when I get them waxed, but I love the way they look and they are something that I love about myself. Nadia encourages readers to love and focus on yourself. Treat yourself to a pedicure or an eyebrow wax. Do something that makes you happy and feel good. Nadia also has gorgeous eyebrows. Whether it be our legs, arms,or even our eyebrows, find something that you love about yourself and roll with it!
Nadia, if you are reading this, I just really want you to know that I truly think you are a beautiful soul, inside and out. You have made me realize that appearances are not everything, your personality, and the way you live your life is. Thank you for not being afraid to take a stand for what is important to you. P.S. I love your style. I read in one of your interviews that you don't consider yourself a role model, but you have played a significant role in my life. So thank you for that.
After reading her blog and following her on Instagram and Facebook (which you should do), I have now realized that I am confident, I know what's important, and I have perfect eyebrows.
