Thank You To My People

A little extra thanks to just a few of the friends that make my world go 'round.

Thank You To My People
Victoria Aurand

I've just returned home from a weekend with some of the best friends in the world. These girls have been around for years and the time we got to spend together just reminded me how thankful I am to have kept them through high school and to continue to keep them around as we grow through college and into our adult lives.

Today I wanna thank them. And not just the handful that I was physically able to spend time with these past few days, but all those who have been and continue to be there for me in every way, since I can remember. Without these girls in my life, I don't know where or what my l life would be honestly. They've been with me through it all. They've been my shoulders to cry on. They've been the cause of sore abs from laughing. They've been the ones I turn to for advice. They've seen my highest of highs and lowest of lows. They have been my inspiration to cheer up on a hard day. They have been there.

Being scattered across the state, hours apart, it can be easy to forget how lucky I truly am to have such a strong, loving, supportive group of people to back me up and love me through it all. But just an uplifting text, a quick phone call or even just on kind word remind me that they will never leave my side and I am forever grateful. It may time simple and I know everyone has those people they can count on, but I really think I have some of the absolute best. It hasn't always been easy. There are arguments, disagreements, tears and fights between us at times, but when it comes down to it, we know that we are ALWAYS better with each other in our lives. I know we all have other friends and that is amazing, but I know even as new people come into our lives, we will still have each other and I'm thankful for that too!

These people inspire me to be better every day. The way they live, believe, love and just take on this world makes me want to be the best version of myself possible and by having them in my life, I know I am getting closer and closer. So I'll say it over and over again, but thank you girlies. For being not just my friends, but my second family. I know that when it comes down to it, you love me unconditionally and would do anything for me. I love you girls and can't wait to see where this absolutely crazy, adventure of a life will take us. Thanks for being my people. I know the saying is "my person" but there is no way I can limit to just one...if you knew these people, trust me, you'd understand.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
