The One Thing That I Love The Most

There are many things I love, but the one thing that I love the most is my dog.

My love for my dog has been proven because I won the "girl in her sorority most likely to take her dog to formal" award, and to say the least, I was pretty proud of myself.

My mom, sister and I got our dog about seven years ago. I can still remember the day we drove up to pick her up. She was so nervous and was drooling all over my shirt the whole ride back home. I was so happy to take her home, and I couldn't wait to start training her and getting her transitioned into her new home.

As time went on, I fell in love with my doggie more and more. She is such a goofy dog and always makes me laugh.

She loves when I talk to her... If only she actually knew what I was saying. She will listen to you and turn her head from side to side as if she were analyzing what you are saying to her. She does, of course, understand the words "treat" and "outside." If you say either of them, she will go wacko and run around the house like a mad dog. It is so funny to watch her go crazy.

Her favorite foods are peanut butter and carrots. I know this because if I eat either of them, she will beg like no other in hopes that I will share with her.

She also likes cuddling...sometimes. She likes to sleep in our beds, and hers sometimes when she is annoyed with people. Even though she doesn't like to cuddle a lot, she will take naps on my feet when I'm laying on the couch, and she will cuddle up next to my side. It is so cute to watch her sleep.

Having a dog is like having a personal vacuum cleaner. She will always clean up spilled food or crumbs on the floor, which makes it less work for me, because she loves food.

If I ask her to go on a walk, she will respond with a really excited jumping movement. Just seeing her excited gets me excited and motivated to go get some exercise.

My dog can sense bad things. She makes a great guard dog. She has a frightening bark, but a body the size of my left arm. She will bark at anyone who walks by, other dogs or when the doorbell rings. Also, she barks at the TV when she sees any other sort of animal. (Yeah I know, it is weird -- and annoying, after a while.)

My dog is my best friend.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
