A vision board is a collection of pictures and words that inspire you and show you a physical example of your dreams and goals. Although I don't have all of these pictures printed out and posted somewhere (because who actually has room for that in a dorm room?), I do have them saved on my computer to look at and reflect on when I need a little encouragement. I hope that some of these can become inspirational to you, the lovely reader of this article, and can encourage you to live your best life, just like I'm trying to live mine.
This quote has become sort of a mantra for me. I, like I'm sure a lot of other people, seem to compare myself and my successes and failures to the people around me. This will not help anyone get to where they want to be. So what if the person next to you did better on the test? Did you do the best you could? Then be proud of yourself. Could you have studied more? Then study more for the next one. The grass is greener where you water it. So water your grass.
This picture kills two birds with one stone for me. First of all, I really want to travel. I want to see every part of this beautiful world that I can. I've only been to the five states that are around me, and I want to see a whole lot more than that. The second thing is that I want to get over my fear of flying. I struggle with anxiety, and it comes out to play when I do things that I have never done. One of those things is flying. I know that once I do it one time I will be fine, but getting over that first flight will be a challenge. But it will be a challenge with some pretty awesome rewards.
Besides my obsession with Walt Disney and Disney in general, this quote holds an even deeper meaning. It seems like sometimes I and a lot of students like me just "get through." We just need to "get through" this week, or "get through" this semester. You know what we should be saying? We need to kick this semester's butt! We need to do all that we do during those weeks or semesters that we need to get to, to the best of our ability. We need to do it well.
Graduation. For me, it's still three years away. For some of my friends, it's just a few months away. But it's everyone's ultimate goal while we're in college. While I need to look at the short-term to do everything as well as I can, the long-term helps a lot. Knowing that one day I will get to hold my cap up for a picture and know that I finally did it is some pretty good inspiration.
This picture speaks for itself, and it applies to more than just practicing (although I really need to do that more too). I need to study everyday, do homework every day, work out every day, and the list could go on and on. I definitely find time to eat every day.
As a future teacher, I have to realize that everything I'm learning in school right now is going to mean something in the future. This can apply to every major and every profession. Everything you do when you graduate and you get that job is going to matter. You have to learn everything you can now, so that you will be able to do everything you could want to later on.
This is my favorite out of all of the pictures on my "board." Every single day is a chance to change your life. Every hour, or even minute, is a chance to change your life. Every decision you make could change even something tiny in your life later on. You have to treat everything you do like it is the most important thing you've every done, because it just might be.
