My Top Apps

How many of these apps you have on your own phone?

My Top Apps

As I looked at my phone the other day I thought to myself “I wonder how many people actually use all the apps on their phones”. I am not one of those people; I probably only use about half of the apps on my phone but the ones I do use are amazing! Some of them are the ones that come with a new IPhone, but others are ones that I have either discovered on my own, or are the popular ones like social media and music apps. Of the fifty plus apps on my phone, I have devised list of my top seven (in no particular order). Here they are!

1 Clock & Calendar

I have not always used these two apps but the clock app is now my alarm clock, and ever since I started working, the calendar app is how I schedule my days.

2 FaceTime

If you are an IPhone user and don’t use this app I am not sure what you are doing with this phone. FaceTime is literally my best friend since I am away from home for school. Also this is my first summer not being at home, so this app is being used more than ever now.

3 ESPN

I love watching sports. You can follow almost any sport on this app whether it be professional or college level. How else am I supposed to know who is up in the fourth quarter when I cannot get to a television to watch a game?

4 Do!

This app was a spur of the moment, I just needed something to help me real quick, a "won’t even read the full description and just hope it does what I need it to" type apps. I can honestly say this app is great though! It is amazing if you like to keep things organized and in a to-do list style. You can add things to the list, for me it was which assignments I had to do for classes during the school year, and once you finish each item on the list you double tap it and it gets crossed out. I started a new list every week, crossed items off as the days went by, and then deleted the list at the end of each week.

5 Blackboard

If you are a college student, you should know about Blackboard. I did not even realize there was an app for this until half way through freshman year. This one is great when you want to check grades, assignments, and other things when you cannot get to a computer to check. The only downside is that it requires you to login a million times.

6 Social Media Apps (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest)

If you see my phone and am either laughing, scowling, or mindlessly scrolling I am definitely looking through one of these. Personally, I am on Twitter or Snapchat the most, but I still check the others. These are the best way to pass time between classes, when riding the bus home, or when I am home waiting for one of my roommates to get there because I am bored.

7 Music (Music App, SoundCloud, Pandora)

Music is life! I love all three of these apps and I literally use probably all of them every single day. First thing I do when I wake up is turn music on. If I am feeling a variety of genres and want songs I may not have downloaded Pandora is there. If I want to listen to a favorite artist or song it is probably on my Apple Music app. Sound Cloud is like a mix of both because I can play an artist’s whole album if I want to but it also plays “similar music” to whatever I am already listening to.

I love my phone and the many things I can do with it. These apps are my favorites and although the social media apps may go out of style and the FaceTime or Calendar may look a little different in a year or two they will still be on my home screen.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
