So the whole "Pink Drink" craze might have died down since it's getting colder outside, but I just started my craze over it...and I had no idea why honestly. It seemed stupid - I mean it's just a drink, from Starbucks of all places. Why on earth would that be unique? Nevertheless, here are some things that I found out about this pretty little beverage and why I keep drinking it:
It's actually healthy!
How is it healthy? It's probably got a lot of sugar in it just like many of the other Starbucks drinks do. Well, that's not really the case here. It actually has some ingredients in it that are, in fact, healthy.
It has the Starbucks menu's regular Strawberry Acai liquid, which contains some Green Coffee extract for a little bit of caffeine...so maybe lose the coffee and buy one of these! Coffee barely does anything for me; it doesn't keep me awake...then again, that's probably because I used to pour a ton of sugar into it, so maybe that wasn't smart of me. Anyhow, the Pink Drink's healthier addition of caffeine is a better replacement of coffee, as it has also been referred to as a weight loss additive. Apparently, green coffee beans have been used for weight loss (FDA approved) programs and items.
It also has Coconut milk instead of just water for the whole drink. Now, they don't use too much for reasons that it would probably lessen the healthier aspects of this beverage. But since coconut milk (in smaller amounts) has been proven to lower cholesterol, provide electrolytes, decrease fatigue, and lessen hunger, the Pink Drink needs this one small ingredient to it to ensure that you're choosing a better, more nutritional option than the average chocolate chip frapp.
Fresh and dried strawberries are another key ingredient to this popular drink. They give the entire refresher an extra kick of strawberry flavor, while adding to the more healthy side of the chain.
So the reason why I have come to buy a thousand of these drinks so far (okay, maybe not that many) is because I like knowing that what I'm drinking isn't full of processed sugars and unhealthy caffeine that Starbucks serves daily in their overabundance of junk food all in a small cup of frappucino or mocha.
There are also other colored-drinks of the Starbucks "secret menu" refreshers as everyone calls them, but for now, I'm sticking to the Pink Drink. Not every day though; we all know that having something that's the same every day depending on what it is may not be the best option.
Take it from me though, if you're just coming out of the gym and need to hydrate, or you just need to have something to sip during that long class, grab a Pink Drink! Or, the more "official" name for it - "Strawberry Acai Refresher with Coconut Milk."
