When we think of the Fourth of July, most of us think of American flags, parades, and fireworks. While all of these things are more than enough reason to celebrate, the fourth of July is also a reminder of independence, freedom, and the joy that comes with being an American.
For most, celebrating the Fourth of July is one of the best parts of summer. You get to take part in traditions that you only get to celebrate on this day. Some of these traditions include going to parades, cooking out with friends and family, watching fireworks, and simply enjoying the day. The best thing about the Fourth of July is that for whatever reason, everyone seems happy.
I don’t know about you, but there’s something so happy about the summer. When you take the happiness that is summer, throw in some candy, some time on a boat, and a couple of hot dogs, lots of people will find sheer bliss.
Another perk of the fourth of July: it’s a holiday! Holiday means no work, which then translates to no obligations for the moment. How nice is it to be relieved of obligations while lounging boat side with a chilled beverage in your hand and an American flag waving above your head? Yeah, it sounds awesome.
The fourth of July also reminds us of how cool it really is to be an American. Given recent tragic events that have occurred, the stress of the upcoming presidential election, and the challenges that come with finding your place in the world while balancing your busy schedule, it is nice to be reminded of the luxury it is to have freedom and a place to call home.
As it being the birthday of our country’s freedom, it is only right that we celebrate this day as our founders would want us to. This means fun in the sun, good times with even better people, and enjoying the fact that we have freedom. This holiday so selflessly gives us the opportunity to renew our principles of liberty and equality that were defined by good ol' Thomas Jefferson.
This holiday is so special because it gives us an excuse to do some of our favorite things while reminding us of how it feels to be an American. Let me tell ya, it feels pretty great.
