What I Want My Future Daughter To Know

Always stay true to who you are, always.

What I Want My Future Daughter To Know
Carly Halitzer

No matter the bumps or bruises I will always stand by your side to guide you, love you, and support you.

We live in a crazy world, my girls, but I want you to know you will always be safe in my arms. Times will get tough or even unbearable, but no matter what everything will always turn back around. Everything that happens, happens for a reason. All the bad times will be overcome by the good times.

I will be your guide through the dark and the light.

When you need someone to listen, I will be around with open ears. When you need a hug, I will be waiting with open arms. When you need advice, I will tell you all I know. When you need help, I will be your teacher. When you need a friend, I will be your best friend. When you need me to be your mom, I always will be.

I have lived and I have learned. I have succeeded and I have failed. I have been happy and I have been sad. I know the ropes and will teach you all I know.

You are not what I fear, but what I fear is the world around you. We are living in a world of hate and despair. I want you to love and prosper. The world is crazy, so I need you to promise me you will not get caught up in what you are not and stay true to who you are. Do not let people take advantage of your kind heart or tell you who you are not.

I hope for nothing, but the absolute best for you and your life. I want more for you than I have ever had or ever been. I want you to soar higher than I ever have. I want you to be the greatest version of me that I could never be. Most importantly, I want you to know that no matter what happens I will always love you and stick by your side in the easiest and hardest times.

I learned at a young age that family is important. Family are the people who will always love you for who you are. Family sticks by your side through hard times to make them easier. Family means the world to me and I hope you can see that all I do and all I am is for and because of you. You are my love, my life, and my entire world.

My mom taught me everything I ever need to know. She is my life and my entire world. She is the reason I am who I am today. I owe her my life and if I could, I would give her the world because she is mine. If I am half the mom to you that she is to me, I will consider myself a great mother because she is all I strive to be. I love my mother and I would not be where I am today without her. She is my best friend and all that I love. I hope that one day we can have the relationship that I and my mother have because I truly believe that the bond between a mother and daughter is priceless and helps to shape a girl into who she becomes.

I want nothing less than the best for you and for you to always feel safe.

If there is anything I want you to remember, it is that I will love you forever, like you for always, and as long as I am living my baby you will be.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
