You might have clicked on this article because you were like, "Um no, my dad is pretty great." But as wonderful as your dad may be, he's not mine, so he's second best. And since my Dad's birthday was this past weekend, I decided to take a minute to let you all know why he's the bomb.com.
He has the best taste in music
Both of my parents instilled the importance of good, loud music. Besides letting me know who to listen to, my dad taught me how to rock out (including turning everything into your own drumset), be an expert DJ, and hear the music in everything.
He's hilarious
My dad is too good for your run of the mill dad jokes. He can tell you stories that make you roar with laughter until you're sure your sides are going to split. His timing and delivery make you think he's probably a stand-up comedian.
He gives the best advice
Stupid boys: "Tell them to eat shit and die"
Practical things: "Righty tighty, lefty loosey"
Being yourself: "Don't forget what happens around us doesn't have to change who we are"
Music:"If it's too loud, you're too old"
Following your dreams: "You gotta do what makes you happy. Screw everyone else"
He knows how to have fun
My dad can make anything entertaining, whether it's being stuck in traffic or a doctor's appointment. Especially if you're feeling stressed, he's the best person to ease the tension and improve any shitty situation you're in.
He knows exactly how to make me feel better
Dealing with me and my crazy is not a fun task, I'm not an easy person to be with. My dad is one of the only people on this Earth that can make me feel calmer just by being in the room with me. He magically can talk me off the ledge in any situation. Whether it be with some piece of advice, a well-timed joke, or a bowl of ice cream; that guy always knows how to cheer me up.
He taught me how to be tough
One thing my dad taught me was that I deserved respect. He made sure I was able to defend myself and not take crap from anyone.
He loves me not matter what
No matter what path I chose or decisions I make, I know my dad's gonna support me the whole way through. He's the definition of unconditional love and I'm pretty damn lucky that he's in my life.
