If Your Boyfriend's Best Friend Is A Girl

It's not what you think it is, I swear.

What is a best friend? A best friend is someone you can trust and confide in. A best friend is someone you can lean on and expect to have your back when no one else does. A best friend is there for you when you have a bad day and need a person to vent to. That is what a best friend is.

For those of you who have one, you know what it's like to depend on that friend and how twisted your world would be if you didn't have them anymore. So, you have your best friends and your boyfriend has him, but what if his best friend was a girl?

Before you judge us, know that we, the girlfriends, are not the jealous type and we're not insecure. We are very comfortable with ourselves, but there's just one thing that drives us crazy and makes us wonder. When we have a bad day or we are upset, we expect our friends to comfort us, be real and honest, and maybe sometimes give us a hug when we need it. We also expect and hope for the same thing from our boyfriends. But what if she does that for him? What if she is his support system, his pick me up, and a hug when he has a bad day? Are you OK with that? Am I OK with it?

Like I said, we're not going to go through his phone and be nosey because that's not who we are. We care about him and honestly, it's not the fact that he has this best friend that's a girl, it's the fact that you want to be the female figure in his life that he depends on and goes to when he needs the comfort. Is that so wrong? So before you go and judge a book by its cover, realize that we're not here to rat on guys for having girls as best friends, we're here to share that it is not easy and is something that we will deal with, but something that hurts.

So what did you think I was going to write about? How are we just a bunch of jealous girls who want to control our boyfriend's friends? That we would rather have our boyfriends at home with us, rather than living his life? No. Like I said, that is not us and that is not who we are. So, do not be so quick to judge. It's like second grade when your best friend finds a new best friend and suddenly, you are left in the dark. You are happy for their happiness, but it still hurts that they forgot about you.

Best friend, we appreciate your kindness and we appreciate you wanting to be that best friend. We appreciate you and your kindness. We appreciate you devoting your time and patience because that is something that we will never forget. But best friend, go find a new best friend that isn't my boyfriend.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
