A very common activity for guys to engage in is gaming (thank you technology!). A lot of women get irritated with this, sometimes myself included. Maybe the guys won't like us invading "their" time, but I think it is important for a relationship and spending time in order to learn. Here are four reasons why!

1. It can be part of the "give and take" in a relationship.

There are plenty of things that us ladies do that men are not interested, such as shopping. That is probably the number one thing that comes to my mind on how men don't want to spend their time.

But it's not hard to get our guys to come out with us. So if your boyfriend wants to play a game with you, try your best to play! You'll find yourself learning how to play quickly. Or, if playing is not what you're interested in, watch him! Engage with him on that level. Encourage him to the best he can because we all know how competitive our guys can be!

2. You can bond with him in a different way.

It is important to continue to grow in your relationship and this would be a good way for girlfriends to find something to grow with them. You will be able to spend more time together and connect on another level. It is exciting to learn new things but it is also exciting to find a new way to bond with your man. You can also continue this into a conversation even when you are not playing the game. Maybe a new game comes out that you would like along with your boyfriend and you guys can talk about it then.

Also, it is a good way to get to know what he enjoys doing. If you both enjoy doing the same thing, it will makes things 10x better!

3. You can get to know his friends better.

Often times, your boyfriend is playing the game with his friends and talking to them while he does (whether they're in the room or not). It is also an important piece of the relationship puzzle to get to know each other's friends. If the game is something that would be an easy buffer to conversations, why not learn and join in?

4. It's a friendly competition, and that's a great thing!

Once you start learning the game and getting better at it, eventually you might even start to beat your boyfriend (or his friends, or both!) at the game you're playing. Once that day comes, the competition begins and you can find even more ways to have fun with it. It's always going to be nice to remind him of that one time that you beat him too!

I think that our boyfriends playing a video game isn't a bad thing. I think it's great. It's engaging and allows for them to find something that they enjoy. So just like they support us, let's support them and figure games out. I have finally "mastered" basketball and Fortnite. My boyfriend and I have so much fun now and I have beat many of his friends. It is just another way to connect and engage with each other.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
