Video games have been a part of my life for a long time; however, over the years my taste in video games have changed and grown with me. This list I am making is not in any specific order, they are just games I love and have played over the course of my life. I am not necessarily a huge video game nerd, I wish I had more time to play, but I haven't played that much since I have started college. Although, I have most definitely got my fair share of hours in while growing up and in high school. So here it is, my list of all my favorite games!
1. "Super Mario Land" (Nintendo 1989)
The first game I ever played, or at least that's how the story goes. My Dad bought this game when it came out in 1989, and kept it. One day when we were going through his old stuff he found this gem for the Nintendo Color. I couldn't put it down, the game encapsulated my 7-year-old mind. It was the first game I ever played, and it didn't help that you couldn't save! I would try, and try, and try to beat the game, but could never do it. My family would take turns attempting to beat each level but it got harder and harder. To this day, no one in my family has beaten it. But don't worry, I still have the game!
2. "Call of Duty 2: Big Red One" (Activision 2005)
To this day, this game will always be my all time favorite. Since I was a little kid, I have always been fascinated with World War II. And this game came out at the perfect time! I used to love playing "imaginary soldier," and this game made my dreams become a poorly computer-generated reality. Even though I was awful at it, I just loved the idea that I was a soldier in World War II. It was so fun playing every weekend, one mission struck me, though, and I will always call it my favorite. In the mission "Liberators," you get to do every job on a B-24 Liberator bomber, ranging from shooting planes out the back to dropping bombs on Germany!
3. "Pokémon Sapphire Version" (Game freak 2002)
Pokémon Sapphire is the game that holds the most of my time played. Last time I checked I had over 400 hours of gameplay in just this specific game. This game to me was my adventurous escape. And I will 100-percent admit that I was a huge Pokémon nerd, and I still am. My best friend at the time and myself bought this game, and would play it for hours on end. Seeing who could catch the most Pokémon and who could beat the game first, I was so into this game when it came out, I felt like it was me going through the story line. I loved every second I spent on this game, and it honestly was such a fun and memorable time.
I wish I could go back to the days when all I had to worry about was how much battery life my Gameboy had, or how many levels I could beat in Mario in one sit-down. Today's games are so concentrated on following social game formalities, I feel that people can't sit down and thoroughly enjoy these games like I used to do in the past. Till this day I still hope one day I can actually sit down and beat Mario!
