One Income Is Not Enough

Its time to face it... you have to have multiple streams of income.

One Income Is Not Enough

As I sit here with bills figuratively stacked to the ceiling. Not literally because who gets paper billing anymore? But yet, they are still stacked. When life hits you, and you have to start over, you realize that you were one paycheck from starving. I make it work as I always have, but I now realize, a 9-5 is not enough anymore.

As a single parent, it is better to have multiple streams of income, many people see this and are afraid to dig into this. It's hard, especially when you can't sell anything. I couldn't sell candy to a baby or water to someone in the desert. I am awkward when I need to sell something. I can create an ad or a video, but to try to cold call or sell you any pyramid scheme type item, I can't do it. So what do you do?

FOLLOW YOUR HEART

Me, I am a writer, so I write anything and everything that I can. But that's what I do. I have also found small investment options so that I can try to build money. Here's the problem with most things, it takes time to build. I wish I would've realized this when I was younger. So all I can do now is speak on it.

Having multiple streams of income is important because if you lose one, or if you get sick you still have money coming in. You are not completely without. Many people don't realize that the people they talk about who are homeless were once them. In this economy, many people are one paycheck away from living on the streets themselves, and bills don't give you time to pay like they use to. You either pay it or it off. Simple for them, but overwhelming for those of us living check to check.

So reach inside yourself, find what you're good at. Do you like to draw, or do art? Sell your art, make prints, a clothing line. Do you like playing video games? Make a youtube channel where you review or play games online, become a beta tester or create your own games. Do you like to read? Review books. Authors are always looking for people to Beta read or get an ARC and give reviews online.

Find what you love to do, and find a way to make it more than a hobby. Then you never know, perhaps that job will become your main source of income and everything else is a second form of income. You never know until you try. Besides, you have one life to live. Why not live it enjoying life, instead of living to pay bills.

Besides when you do it, those around you see you and follow you. Making the economy go up, making more jobs available because you have now started a business or a side hustle. One day you may need to hire someone. Create the opportunities you want, don't wait on them to knock on your door.

You got this!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
