For the past week or so, and for the next week or so, students across the country will be going back to college. Some may be freshmen settling into their very first dorm room. Some are returning students also settling back into dorm life. Yet, there are still some who are moving off-campus for the very first time.
I am one of those students. In a mere five days, I will be trekking down to Ohio to move into my very first apartment with my roommate, Joe. Every day my emotions get a little bit more intense: an odd combination of fear, excitement, anxiety, happiness, self-doubt, and confidence. Trying to stay rational, I have found a few gifs. to give some insight into the mind of someone who is going to be living off-campus for the very first time.
Realizing you don't have to answer to an RA any more...
...but remembering now you have to pay rent, utilities, etc.
Being super excited to try out new recipes and cook for yourself...
...but realizing that you probably aren't the best cook ever.
Like the food you make is really, really bad so you're just going to settle on mac 'n' cheese again...
Realizing that the university staff will no longer be cleaning your bathroom.
Realizing that the money you used to use for going out is now for groceries.
Realizing that you can't be super loud like you used to be in your dorm because you have actual neighbors now.
And finally, realizing that living off-campus means you are the most adult you've ever been in your life.
But hopefully it won't be that bad!
