9 Movies And 1 TV Show To Get Excited About In 2017

During these trying times, many people don’t have much to look forward to in 2017. The unknown is a scary thing, however, during these frightening times, I personally look to movies as a way to escape. Since I was a kid I always found peace through cinema and books, however, I’ve been so consumed with school work this year that books are not really something I look forward to reading. Instead, I think 2017 is the year of the movie because there are many great films coming out. Whether you like superheroes, remakes or fairytales, 2017, has nine great movies coming out and one TV Show.

If you love Marvel watch out for these great films coming your way in 2017:

1. "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" coming May 5, 2017

Just the sound of “Hooked on a Feeling” in the trailer gave me goosebumps. Not to mention baby Groot!

2. "Spider-Man: Homecoming" coming July 7, 2017

Not only do we have a more modern day Spider-Man, but we also have a diverse casting for Mary Jane. Totally excited for it!

For remakes or movies that revolve around an old movie, save the date for:

3. "Power Rangers" coming March 24, 2017

As a child I watched the "Power Rangers" religiously so to say I was a little hesitant regarding this remake is an understatement. However, after watching the trailer I’m super psyched!

4. "Friday the 13th" coming October 13, 2017

Who doesn’t love a good horror movie? Well, I hope this version is better than the last sequel they tried to make…

5. "Jumanji" coming December 22, 2017

Though I’m hesitant about this, The Rock is a great actor. I’ll possibly give it a shot, but I’m not expecting much to be honest. I mean, it's hard to live up to Robin Williams.

6. "Beauty and the Beast" coming March 17, 2017

I’m so excited for my favorite childhood movie to come to life. Knowing that Emma Watson will portray Belle makes me giddy inside. She’s definitely my favorite actress and I’m super excited to see her in this.

If you’re more of a DC fan get excited because these films are coming your way:

7. "Wonder Woman" coming June 2, 2017

She’s strong, powerful and badass! Who doesn’t love Wonder Woman?

8. "Justice League" coming November 17, 2017

Though I wasn’t too keen on "Batman vs. Superman," and "Suicide Squad," I’m not going to give up hope for this movie just yet…

Sequels? Who doesn’t love a good sequel?

9. "Star Wars Episode VIII" coming December 15, 2017

I must say I’m very pleased with what Disney is doing with the "Star Wars" series, so I’m super excited for this!

There’s also one TV show I want to mention coming out that gives me chills:

10. "Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events" coming January 13, 2017

Be sure to watch out for some of these great movies coming your way! There are more movies coming, but these are just a few to get excited about!

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
