1. "The Adventures of Milo and Otis" (1999)
This movie is about an orange cat, Milo, and a Pug called Otis who live together on a farm and venture around the area together. However, their fun little escapades unexpectedly take a turn for the worse when Milo falls into a river. Otis steadfastly searches through the day for his feline friend, embarking on various adventures and encountering many unexpected scenarios along the way.
2. "Air Bud" (1997)"
Brace yourselves — this movie was made for kids, so it's very silly, but it will please any genuine golden retriever lover. "Air Bud" is about Josh Framm , a boy who moves to a new town and wants to try out for his school's basketball team, but does not have many friends. He soon forms a new friendship with a Golden Retriever, Buddy, who plays basketball. Talent like this, however, does not go unnoticed and Josh faces someone who also wants Buddy as their pet.
Anyone who grew up watching Disney movies has probably seen this movie one too many times, but it's a great classic that will never grow old for dog lovers. Songwriter Rodger Radcliffe resides in London with his Dalmatian, Pongo, while Anita also lives in London with her Dalmatian, Purdy. Rodger and Anita travel to the nearby dog park with their pets one day and both the humans and canine pairs fall in love. The couple gets married and decides to breed their Dalmatians, resulting in a large litter of spotted puppies. However, the rich Cruella De Vil loves adorning herself with various animal prints and will stop at nothing to take the black circles off the backs of these small animals.
4. ""Hachi: a Dog's Tale" (2009)
This movie, based on the true story of Hachikō , is about an Akita Inu dog who ends up at a train station. The station manager does not know what to do with the dog, so a professor named Parker Wilson ends up adopting him and calling him Hachi. The Akita Inu waits patiently for him to return from work every day. However, the professor does not return one day, but Hachi lingers around the train station, anxiously awaiting his owner's arrival.
5. "Lady and the Tramp" (1955)
This is another great Disney Classic and many of us are familiar with the iconic spaghetti and meatballs scene. A couple named Jim and Darling receive a Cockier Spaniel, Lady, as a present and nurture her like their own child — that is, until they have one of their own. The couple goes on vacation, leaving Lady and the baby with Aunt Sarah, but Lady becomes lost on the streets when she escapes from the mean lady. Join Lady as she ventures around town with a mutt, Tramp.
"Marley and Me" is based on a true story turned into a book of the same name by John Grogan. John surprises his wife Jennifer with a Labrador Retriever puppy called Marley when they start a new chapter of their lives in Florida. The puppy, of course, was adorable, but they were not expecting him to become highly energetic and impulsive. In addition, they could not teach the puppy to behave. However, he displayed unconditional love towards John and his wife, as any great dog does, and John chronicles Marley's mischief in his newspaper column.
"Beethoven" actually spawned a franchise of eight films. This canine comedy movie is about a Saint Bernard who escapes from a litter of puppies that a group of thieves tries to steal from a pet store and finds refuge in the Newton family residence. The St Bernard barks along when their daughter, Emily, plays an excerpt from Beethoven's Fifth Symphony and the children assign him the name "Beethoven." However, the pup faces separation from his family when an evil veterinarian seeks to steal Beethoven.
"Lassie" is about a Collie who was the best friend of a young miner's son, Joe, that escapes from her new home after her family was forced to sell her due to financial hardship. She cannot part with her family and will do anything to return home. However, she faces obstacles on her journey to find Joe.
This 2006 remake of the original classic did not hit off so well but is great for anyone who loves comedic movies filled with randomness. The story is about a district attorney in Los Angeles, Dave, who can change into a sheepdog after being bitten by the sacred Bearded Collie, Khyi Yang Po. During his time as a dog, Dave learns how to break free from workaholism and become a better father to his kids.
10. "Bolt" (2008)
This Disney movie was well-received and remains one of my personal favorites. "Bolt" is about an American White Shepard, Bolt, who stars in an action TV show alongside his owner, Penny. Unfortunately, Bolt thinks the TV show is reality. He falls into a box while looking for Penny, whom he thought was kidnapped, and is shipped to New York City. He meets an alley cat named Mittens along the way, and later, a fluffy hamster named Rhino. Since he grew up as a show dog, Bolt does not realize his superpowers do not transition to the real world and faces a cold wake up call on his journey back to the studio with Mittens and Rhino.
