Move in day is quickly approaching. Whether it be into that new apartment or to your college dorm, following these 5 tips will make sure you come out unscathed.
1. Early bird gets the worm
And I don't mean that if move in day is from 8-10 show up at 8. I mean show up at 7:30. Because they will most likely have people or equipment to help you move, but resources are limited so get there EARLY!
2. It doesn't take a village
It may have taken a village to raise you, but that whole village doesn't need to help you move in. Odds are you and your roommate will be moving in at the same time. And if you both bring 2 people that's 6 people in a 15 foot room. Things will get crowded real fast.
3. Wait to buy the unnecessary things
It may be tempting to load up on bath stuff, buy the extra trashcan for the bathroom, and bring tons of cute decorations. But none of those are necessary until after you move in. So make a quick shopping trip after you've moved in all your necessities.
4. Communicate with your roommate
Trashcans, hand soap, cleaning supplies, etc. these are all things that you will not need double of unless you're just super picky. So communicate with your roommate find out what each other is bringing to help lighten your packing load.
5. Have your room already planned out
Write down what goes where on a sheet of paper. Draw out how you want to hang things up and where things will be placed. That way when your unpacking your things aren't left in a pile on the floor. Everything has a place and everything will be in it's place.
